Harry Allen
Harry Allen is an American industrial designer based in New York. Born in 1964, he received a master’s degree in industrial design from Pratt Institute and founded Harry Allen Design in 1993. His work spans furniture, lighting, and product design, often exploring the intersection of art and industrial production. Allen has created designs for a range of international clients and is known for projects that combine conceptual thinking with functional objects. His work is included in the permanent collections of institutions, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, the Denver Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Allen has received awards including the Brooklyn Museum’s Modernism/Young Designer Award and Industrial Design Society of America IDEA Awards. His practice reflects a sustained engagement with both conceptual design and commercial production.
