Karl Zahn

Karl Zahn is an American product and furniture designer based in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2003 with a degree in industrial design. Zahn’s work explores the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary production, often combining modern materials with historical techniques. His designs emphasize clarity of form and construction, frequently drawing on woodworking and metal fabrication processes. After working in San Francisco, where he engaged with metalworking practices, Zahn relocated to New York to establish his independent studio. His projects span furniture, lighting, and objects, and have been produced and exhibited internationally. Zahn’s practice reflects an interest in durability, material honesty, and the long-term relationship between objects and users.
